Callie has been adopted by Debby Pederson and is living at a large ranch in Lake County with many other horses. We are very happy for Debby and Callie!
Her story: Callie came to to SERRA's ranch Feb 19, 2012. A victim of the economic downturn, her owner could no longer afford her and coupled with a home foreclosure, Callie was going to be without a home in a mere 9 days. The responsible owner contacted us through a good friend's encouragement, and Callie did not need to go to the auction yard which is a one way ticket to slaughter.
Sweet and so willing, Callie just wants to please and be comforted by the volunteers. She's just a big lap dog. However, at age 7, Callie had not been colt started. Now 10 years old, Callie has been colt started and developed into a trail riding horse. Confident and capable, Ms Callie loves to learn! Curious about everything and what is in her environment. In fact, she visits the supplement kitchen and noses around looking for carrots and treats. Confident Smart Girl!
Callie suffered a back injury but has now healed with the help of Dr. Carter Judy, Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center. Callie is being ridden by several different volunteers and continues her training. Her mind loves obstacle course work, trail trials training and trails. Training in Parelli ground work and riding. She is a left brained thinking horse with an extrovert horsenality! Medium spirit, loves to move out and very playful with a high play drive. FUN!
