Casey, a foundation bred ranch Quarter horse mare about 20 years old, came from the September 12th 2015 Valley Fire through Lake Country Animal Control. She was malnourished and had been on animal control's radar for some time. Then when the fire hit, the officers found Casey wandering openly through the charred landscape and scooped her up. Animal Control confiscated the mare due to her poor condition and then called SERRA and we picked her up again. In fact, the mare jumped into the trailer and home we sped to begin her nourishment, medical baseline and improve her health. After 6 weeks of care, dental, vaccinations and good nutrition, Casey was a healthy stable mare again.
For 2 years, she was in the good capable foster care home of Kathy Badzik and became pals with SERRA's horse, Brother.
After 2 years with Brother, Casey is now back at SERRA and in training for permanent placement! She is ground trained in natural horsemanship. A lovely companion horse for another horse or for a good human partner who understands natural horsemanship.
