April 2019 update: TC was fostered for several months by a lovely local horsewoman as a companion to her older gelding. She has now brought in a new horse to her property and we are looking for a new forever home for TC. Please let us know if you would like to have this sweet, easy going gal with you!
Original post: SERRA rescued TC in December 2015 after we were alerted that she had been abandoned along with 3 other horses in San Jose. She immediately went into a foster home here in Sonoma where she could be cared for. However, during her 2 years in foster care, she began to lose her hair on her neck, haunches, stomach, main and tail. Most likely from an allergic reaction to “no-seeums” and the foster caregiver could no longer care for her. She was surrendered back to SERRA in the fall of 2017. Since then, we have cared for her scabbing with antibacterial baths, good nutrition, and medicinal salves. The wounds are almost completely cleared up and her mane and tail are growing in nicely. We are very pleased with her recovery.
TC is a very well behaved and sweet mare. She is socialized with other horses and enjoys interaction with her next door neighbor, Lombard, who grooms her daily and looks out for her when out in the herd. When in her previous foster home, we are told TC and her pasture mate would spend time in a stall together. They would both take turns sharing their hay and simply enjoy each other’s company. We would like TC to be adopted into a situation where she will have at least one companion so she can bond with another horse.
TC is stiff in her right stifle and slightly swings her leg. However, recently we have been performing the BEMER electromagnetic therapy on her back and haunches which is helping with her stiffness. She is now able to move better and enjoying being out to pasture with the herd each day.
TC is very gentle, enjoys groomings and stands for trimmings. She leads well and is not aggressive in any way. With her kind and bonding personality, TC will make her new human and horse companions very happy.
TC needs a caring sponsor or adopter.
