Kalio

Meet Kalio — whose name means “horse” in Hawaiian — a beautiful registered Percheron mare (registered name Cassie) with a gentle heart and a loyal nature.

Kalio is registered with the Percheron Horse Association of America and spent the first eight years of her life living naturally on a 380-acre ranch alongside approximately 20 other horses. Because she lived primarily in a herd setting, she did not receive extensive handling or formal training early in life.

Kalio is a bit more sensitive and less confident than her herd mate Khalessi. She naturally looks to her human for reassurance, leadership, and safety. Once she builds trust, Kalio reveals her incredibly sweet, gentle, and affectionate personality. She especially loves grooming time — and is very happy to stand quietly while having her favorite spot scratched (her hindquarters are her favorite!).

Kalio foaled a filly in 2021 and proved to be a good mother.  With patient handling, consistency, and a calm, confident partner, Kalio has all the makings of a truly spectacular equine companion.

Kalio is looking for a quiet, understanding home where she can continue building confidence and partnership with a thoughtful and patient handler.
